Overview: Archerfield's Dirleton course is an 18-hole links routing on the East Lothian coast near Gullane. It sits within the Archerfield estate, with the historic house as a backdrop and a traditional links character shaped by gorse, broad fairways and large, demanding bunkers.
History: The present Dirleton course belongs to the modern revival of Archerfield Links after the estate's wartime use by the Ministry of Defence. David J. Russell designed the Dirleton course, which opened in 2006, while the wider property carries a much older golfing history and the companion Fidra course opened earlier.
Did You Know? Archerfield's two courses are set on a stretch of East Lothian coast between well-known links, but Dirleton points inland toward Dirleton village rather than following the more exposed coastline. That change of direction is part of the reason the two Archerfield routings feel distinct.
