Auchterarder

Overview: Auchterarder Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course on a ridge in Perthshire, adjacent to the Gleneagles estate. The club describes it as an easy-walking layout of about 5,800 yards, with six par 3s and views toward Glendevon.

History: The club's history reaches back to 1892, but its own account separates that club story from the present course. Ben Sayers laid out the original nine holes in 1913, the land was affected by wartime agricultural use, and the new 18-hole course was completed in 1979. The stored opening year now follows that current 18-hole milestone.

Did You Know? During the Second World War, parts of the course were considered for cultivation and were used for grazing, while the post-war club gradually restored the Old Nine. The present course is therefore also a record of how Scottish clubs adapted their land during wartime.
