County Sligo (Rosses Point)

Overview: County Sligo Golf Club's Colt Championship Links occupies the Rosses Point headland beneath Benbulben and across the bay from Knocknarea. The 18-hole, par-71 course measures about 6,616 yards and combines dunes, sea views, elevated tees, and naturally rippled fairways. Harry Colt's work sits comfortably in the land, producing a links where the best line is often revealed by the contours rather than by formal hazards. The mountain and Atlantic setting are constant companions, but the course remains a strategic test of position, trajectory, and recovery.

History: County Sligo Golf Club was formed in 1894 after Colonel James Campbell and local businessman Arthur Jackson secured the Greenlands lease. Golf had already been played in the area by members of the Sligo Militia. Harry Colt later shaped the championship course, and the layout has continued to evolve through advice and work by Pat Ruddy and Martin Hawtree. The club has hosted the West of Ireland Amateur Open since 1923 and has also staged Irish championships, Home Internationals, and Irish PGA events.
