Overview: The Golf House Club plays over the historic Elie and Earlsferry Links in the East Neuk of Fife. The par-70 course is shaped by firm coastal turf, wind, low dunes and green complexes that ask for thoughtful approaches. Its close village setting and long playing tradition give the round a different feel from larger modern resort links.
History: The Golf House Club was founded in 1875, although golf had been played over the Elie links for much longer. Old Tom Morris laid out the principal 18-hole course in 1895, with James Braid also helping shape the layout. Braid grew up in nearby Earlsferry and learned the game on these links before becoming one of Scotland’s leading professionals and architects.
Did You Know? A submarine periscope stands beside Elie’s first tee. Salvaged from HMS Excalibur in 1966, it is a piece of naval history that has become part of the links’ course identity.
