Overview: Gleneagles’ Queen’s Course is a compact par-68 layout through the Perthshire estate’s ridges, woodland and moorland turf. Its shorter scorecard does not make it simple: changes in elevation, water and angled greens place a premium on club selection and control rather than raw distance.
History: James Braid designed the Queen’s and King’s courses for the Caledonian Railway’s Gleneagles project. Both courses opened on 1 May 1919, five years before the hotel, after the work was interrupted by the First World War and later completed using the rugged estate terrain.
Did You Know? Both courses opened on 1 May 1919, five years before the hotel, after wartime interruption delayed the wider Gleneagles project. That early date is part of the identity of the original estate layouts.
