Hunstanton

Overview: Hunstanton is an out-and-back links on the north Norfolk coast, routed on both sides of a dune ridge. The open ground, coastal wind and firm turf give the course a traditional links character, while the par 3s and the holes around the turn provide much of the strategic interest.

History: The course dates to 1891. James Braid made a substantial early contribution in 1907 by overseeing the addition of 40 bunkers, and later work by Martin Hawtree has refined the layout without removing its original coastal character.

Did You Know? Hunstanton’s 16th is associated with Bob Taylor’s extraordinary 1974 run of three holes-in-one on the same hole during the Eastern Counties Foursomes. The story is part of the club’s unusual golfing folklore.
