Overview: Langland Bay is a clifftop coastal course on the Gower Peninsula, with the Bristol Channel and Langland Bay shaping the outlook. The compact layout uses elevation changes, small greens, rough and bunkering to make accuracy important even though the yardage is modest. Sea views appear repeatedly through the round, while the course's position within the Gower landscape gives it a strong relationship with the surrounding cliffs and bays.
History: The first written record of golf at Langland is in the club's minute book from a meeting at the Langland Bay Hotel on 24 September 1901. The course was officially scheduled to open on 10 September 1904, when the president was asked to drive off. James Braid later contributed to the course's development, and the club has continued to refine the clifftop layout.
Did You Know? Langland's 16th is called Death or Glory, a name that reflects the hole's position beside a steep coastal drop. The hole captures the course's central design tension: a short layout where the land beside the fairway can matter as much as the distance to the green.
