Overview: Situated on the Opal Coast of northern France, the La Mer course is a classic seaside links designed by Harry Colt and Hugh Alison. The layout winds through sandy pine corridors and open dunes, featuring firm fairways and deep, sod-walled bunkers.
History: Opened in 1931 during the resort's golden age, the course lay derelict after extensive damage during World War II. Architects Patrice Boissonnas and Frank Pont restored the layout in 2015, using old aerial photographs to uncover Colt's original, lost green sites.
Did You Know? During the 1930s, the resort was a fashionable weekend getaway for British royals and aristocrats, who traveled across the English Channel by private aircraft to play Colt's links.
