Oitavos Dunes

Overview: Oitavos Dunes, situated on the stunning Atlantic coast near Cascais, Portugal, is a spectacular championship links and forest hybrid course designed by Arthur Hills. Winding through rolling sand dunes and ancient umbrella pines, the course features panoramic ocean views from almost every hole. The layout strategically combines tight, pine-lined parkland fairways on the front nine with open, windswept seaside links holes on the back, presenting a dynamic and rigorous test of golf that relies heavily on the coastal winds.

History: Opened in 2001, the course was designed by prominent American architect Arthur Hills to establish a premier championship venue in Europe, and it has since proudly hosted the Portuguese Open on numerous occasions. The club has maintained an uncompromising dedication to preserving the native environment, and in 2008, it became the very first course in Europe to earn "Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary" status for its exemplary environmental stewardship and conservation.

Did You Know? The course is situated within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, a protected reserve where native fescue grass and wild sea-grass thrive in the deep, sandy soil. The spectacular, modern clubhouse features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, offering views of the 18th green and the Atlantic Ocean.
