Overview: Within Madrid's historic club, the Arriba course follows naturally varied ground and mature vegetation through 18 holes. Its parkland character is inseparable from the private setting and from the long sporting history of Puerta de Hierro.
History: The Arriba course was inaugurated in 1904 and is associated with Harry Colt and Tom Simpson. The club itself was founded in 1895 as a polo club, and golf became part of its sporting life as the course was developed in the early twentieth century.
Did You Know? Arriba was among the earliest golf courses established on the Spanish mainland. The club now operates Arriba and Abajo together, so the historic upper course is part of a larger 36-hole golf complex.
