Overview: Rosendaelsche Golfclub is a classic heathland course on the Delhuyzen estate near Arnhem. Heather, sandy ground, mature woodland and noticeable changes of elevation give the holes a character that is unusual in the Netherlands. The setting is visually quiet but strategically exacting: the natural corridors frame the lines into the greens, while the old landscape keeps the course from feeling manufactured. Its interest lies in the continuity between the historic nine-hole origins and the fuller 18-hole routing that now occupies the estate.
History: The club was founded in 1895 on the Rozendaalse heide by Aalbrecht del Court van Krimpen. After the early course near Rozendaal, it moved to the Delhuyzen site near Arnhem in 1908. The original course tradition is associated with Del Court van Krimpen, and Frank Pennink expanded the layout to 18 holes in 1977. The club’s long history is therefore visible in both the age of the association and the way the later holes were fitted into the heathland setting.
Did You Know? Rosendaelsche’s name points back to its first home near Rozendaal, even though the course has stood at Delhuyzen since 1908. That move is an easy detail to miss when looking only at the modern address, but it explains why the club combines one of the Netherlands’ oldest golf histories with a course landscape associated with Arnhem.
