Royal Waterloo Golf Club (The Marache Course)

Overview: Winding through a stunning, mature parkland estate in the historic region of Ohain, the Marache Course at Royal Waterloo Golf Club is widely regarded as one of Belgium's premier championship layouts. Designed by Fred Hawtree, the course features wide, rolling fairways lined by majestic oaks, beeches, and pines, with large, heavily bunkered green complexes. The layout is exceptionally long and strategic, demanding both powerful tee shots and precise iron play to navigate the beautiful, undulating forest corridors.

History: Opened in 1960, the Marache Course was designed to establish Royal Waterloo as a world-class championship facility. In 2004, the greens were completely renovated by Martin Hawtree, Fred's son, who modernized the contours and drainage to modern championship standards. The course has played host to numerous prestigious tournaments, including the European Tour's Belgian Open.

Did You Know? The course is located just a short distance from the historic battlefield of Waterloo, where Napoleon was defeated in 1815, and the rolling topography of the course mirrors the famous hills that played a strategic role in the battle.
