Overview: Silloth on Solway is an 18-hole links on the Cumbrian coast west of Silloth's docks, with the Solway landscape shaping every part of the round. Sandy wastes, mature dune vegetation, blind holes, heather and undulating fairways create a traditional links test that changes with the prevailing wind. The remote setting and firm-running turf give the course a spacious, exploratory character.
History: David Grant laid out Silloth's links in 1892 on the land west of the docks. The course evolved over time with contributions from Dr Alister MacKenzie and Willie Park Jr., while retaining many of its original blind holes and sandy hazards. That mixture of early links ground and later classic design input is central to the course's present identity.
Did You Know? The par-5 13th is described by the club as Silloth's signature hole, with a heather-lined drive and a narrow, rising second shot. The course has also hosted R&A Regional Open Championship qualifying from 2002 to 2007 and the English Amateur Championship in 2012.
