St Andrews (Jubilee)

Overview: The Jubilee Course is an exposed St Andrews links routing close to the West Sands, where wind, firm turf and changes in elevation make the approach to the green sites especially important. Elevated tees and relatively narrow landing areas give this course a more testing coastal character than its name might suggest.

History: The course opened in 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. It was later converted to a full championship layout by Donald Steel in 1988, creating the modern course on the links ground west of St Andrews.

Did You Know? The Jubilee name is a direct reference to Queen Victoria's 1897 Diamond Jubilee. The course's modern championship identity therefore combines a Victorian commemorative origin with a much later architectural conversion.
