History: The Nicklaus course officially opened in 1988 and was the first course in Europe personally designed by Jack Nicklaus. Its debut was marked by an exhibition match featuring Nicklaus and Tom Watson against Sandy Lyle and Nick Faldo. The resort’s first golf layout dates to 1976, more than a decade before the Nicklaus routing, a distinction that matters when reading the site’s history. The Nicklaus layout went on to host the Benson & Hedges International Open and later European Challenge Tour events, bringing high-level professional golf to Cornwall.
