Overview: Streamsong Red is Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's walking-oriented inland links course at a former phosphate-mining site in central Florida. The routing moves across exposed sand ridges, broad fairways, native rough, and large, contoured greens, giving the ground game room to work. Wind and uneven lies are as important as the scorecard length, and the course often rewards imagination over a single prescribed line.
History: Streamsong Red entered play in 2012 as one of the resort's first two 18-hole courses, alongside Tom Doak's Blue Course. The architects worked with the mine-altered land rather than hiding it, turning a reclaimed industrial landscape into a golf setting of dunes, lakes, and open horizons. The resort later added Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner's Black Course, strengthening the architectural contrast on the property.
Did You Know? The Red and Blue courses sit on land reshaped by phosphate mining. Their unusual dune topography is therefore both a geological remnant and an intentional part of the golf architecture.
Streamsong requires a caddie for riding play and strongly encourages walking with a caddie, especially on Red, where wind and sandy ridges make local knowledge valuable. Walking caddies cost $100 per player for double-bag service or $120 for a single bag, plus gratuity. A group caddie for riders runs $45 per player plus gratuity. Caddies are independent contractors, so cash, Venmo, or Zelle is expected, and specific requests should be made ahead of the tee time. Budget at least $120–$160 per golfer for the full service.
Streamsong Resort offers a range of on-site dining. Sotto Terra is the fine-dining Italian restaurant, known for handmade pastas and a strong wine list in a cellar-like setting. The Palm Room serves upscale American classics in a more casual atmosphere. For post-round drinks and snacks, the Lobby Bar and Pond Bar are popular. The Crooked Spoon provides grab-and-go coffee and food for early tee times. The halfway house at the turn is notably well-regarded with hearty options. Reservations for dinner, especially at Sotto Terra, are recommended as they fill quickly with resort guests. A smart casual dress code applies in the main dining rooms, with golf attire not permitted.
