Overview: The Craigtoun Course, formerly The Duke's St Andrews, is an 18-hole inland course set high above St Andrews. Designed by Peter Thomson, it contrasts with the town's coastal links through rolling fairways, gorse and heather, with broad views across St Andrews and the sea.
History: The course opened in 1995 and was later refined by Tim Liddy. In 2026 the St Andrews Links Trust took over the long-term lease and the former Duke's course was presented under the Craigtoun name, so the current name and the historic ranking name refer to the same routing.
Did You Know? The Craigtoun Course is an inland counterpoint within the St Andrews golf landscape. Its elevated position means that a round can look back toward the town and coastline while playing through a more heathland-like mix of gorse, heather and rolling ground.
