Overview: The Renaissance Club occupies the East Lothian coast between North Berwick and Muirfield, with holes reaching toward the Firth of Forth. Tom Doak’s design uses sandy ground, native vegetation and changes of direction to create a modern links that is built for firm conditions and championship play.
History: The club was established and the course opened in 2008. Tom Doak designed the layout with tournament ambitions from the beginning, and Padraig Harrington later worked with Doak as a player consultant while the course was refined for elite competition.
Did You Know? The Renaissance Club has hosted the Scottish Open since 2019 and has also staged the Scottish Women’s Open. The venue is also notable for using a tournament routing that changes the order of several holes before the closing stretch.
